Install Wisply in Your AI App

Updated

Local MCP Server is coming in Wisply 1.11. Check the App Store for the version on your device.

Overview

The npm connector and editor extension are being prepared for release. You can use the public connector source on your Mac now. Package install buttons will appear here after publication.

Wisply must run on the same Mac as your AI app. Check the availability notice above before installing: source access does not make an unreleased Mac feature available in the App Store build.

Before you start

  1. Install Node.js 20 or later and Git.
  2. In a compatible Wisply for Mac build, open Settings → Integrations → MCP Server and enable the local server.
  3. Copy the read-only connector token. Use the setup prompt below to save it in your Mac Keychain. Keep the token out of chat and configuration files.
Install from the public source
git clone --branch main https://github.com/fal3/wisply-mcp.git
cd wisply-mcp
node bin/wisply-mcp.mjs setup
node bin/wisply-mcp.mjs status

Setup asks for the token in a macOS password prompt. Status checks Wisply’s identity and reports the connection without printing the token. The Keychain keeps it out of config files; other programs running as you can still read this item.

VS Code

In VS Code, run MCP: Add Server and choose a command server. Other AI apps can use the same entry in their MCP configuration. Replace both paths below with the absolute paths on your Mac. Run command -v node to find Node and pwd inside the connector folder to find its location.

Local source entry
{
  "command": "/absolute/path/to/node",
  "args": ["/absolute/path/to/wisply-mcp/bin/wisply-mcp.mjs"]
}

Keep the source folder in place while your AI app uses it. The Wisply editor extension is not published yet. Once installed, its Wisply: Set Token and Wisply: Check Connection commands handle setup inside the editor.

Privacy

The connector talks to Wisply at 127.0.0.1 on this Mac. Content returned to your AI app can become part of its conversation and be sent to that app’s AI provider. Use a synthetic memo for your first connection check.

Troubleshooting

If status cannot connect, keep Wisply open, check its MCP switch and port, and confirm that your Mac build supports the identity check. For a custom port, add --port and the port number to the connector arguments.
